This is part of a five-level course for young adult and adult learners, specifically designed for international students. The course balances presentation, practice and production, ensuring the students feel prepared and ready to communicate in English. It carefully distinguishes between receptive and productive activities, because students can understand more difficult material than they can produce. The course aims to surround international students with the voice of the native speaker, supplying the rich listening practice they need. It tightly connects social language and grammar so that grammar is not taught in isolation, but with meaning and purpose. The course also aims to achieve real communication in the classroom through a combination of activities: "Improvise" encourages students to take new language and make it their own; "Heart to Heart" enables students to voice their own thoughts and views; and "In Your Own Words" activates intensive review and communication through full-page pictures.
